PAST to POST approaches Osaka’s past not as an object of nostalgia, but as a creative resource for imagining what comes next. Tracing Osaka’s history as a port city shaped by trade and the exchange of knowledge, through the transformations of modernization and the cultural flourishing of the ‘Greater Osaka’ era, the project explores the circulation of culture that has continuously shaped the city.

Crossing the boundaries of contemporary art, antiquities, craft, design, architecture, music, and food, PAST to POST presents Osaka not simply as a city that has inherited and preserved culture, but as one that has continually generated, transformed, and circulated it across time.

Osaka is envisioned here as a platform where inherited memories and emerging practices meet—where the past is re-curated into new cultural possibilities, and where culture itself becomes a catalyst for imagining the next era.
